SCA-αA42E is a high reactive alpha silane compared to its counterpart gamma phenylamino silane. With gamma-alkoxysilanes, the moisture-induced crosslinking reaction takes place considerably more slowly than with the highly reactive alpha-alkoxysilanes. In alpha-silanes, the electron donor is attached to the silicon atom via a methylene group. With this configuration, the alkoxy groups are activated, so that the crosslinking reaction is accelerated considerably (so called alpha effect).
